ARTIST STATEMENT

In the age of the internet, the rise in the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories is rampant. While it can be fun to jump down the rabbit hole and look into these things, it can be dangerous and misconstruing. New World Order is based on a conspiracy of the same name. It theorizes that there is a shadow government that is seeking total control over the world through immoral and secretive methods. There’s also a slight critique to city builders as a whole. I believe that city builders encourage dehumanization as a strategy to succeed. My goal was to create a unified and simplistic system to make the player feel detached from the atrocities they were committing. I wanted the game to have a strict but long enough time limit for it to remain enjoyable. You have a year (or 52 weeks) and a limited amount of actions per turn.
